At ArtbyGeneva, the international creative think tank Addictlab.com will be showing work and thoughts from their labmembers on their current research areas. These include the brand lab research and the Urban Green research.
The 'Alder Bracket ('Inonotus radiatus') grows on trees. Addictlab's designed by nature concept recreates the Alder Bracket without the negative effect for the tree (the Alder bracket enters the tree through trunk/branches injuries and decomposes heartwood). Nicknamed 'Funkyfunghi', this TREEWEAR concept consists of tables, lights and solar panels, shaped as funghi.
As an art object, the treewear concept emphasizes on the delicacy and ingenuity of nature. As a contemporary design object, the Funkyfunghi wants to attract people to city forests, enhancing the green experience by added functionalities such as table, lights, chairs.
The Treewear collection has to be strapped on a tree. Without a tree present, the objects become useless. When strapped to light poles and urban furniture, the objects generate clear natural references even in an urban environment.
This concept was selected for the 'Ideas on Greener Cities' group, A brainstorming group to generate ideas for greener cities in collaboration with the Flemish government.
