MODO BRUXELLAE 2007 PRICE For YOUNG DESIGNER GIRLS FROM OMSK
For the occassion of the "Défilé Victoire/Le Soir – Modo Bruxellae Price 2007” organised - just before the super renovation- in the catacombes of the provincial Guldenvlies galleries on Monday December 3th, the Minister of Economy and Employment of the Brussels Provincials Region, Benoit Cerexhe, has presented the Modo Price 2007 for the Young Designer with the value of 7500 € to Girls from Omsk of Valéria Siniouchkina, Belgian designer with Russian roots. The price is presented yearly, and this for allready 10 years to a Brussels based designer with less then 10 collections commercialised. The selection criteria are based on creativity, technical quality (cut, materials, finishing touch) and the innovation aspect of the designs.

 | The Belgian organization ‘Spullenhulp’ is organizing the 5th edition of the fashion show ‘Second Hand Second Life’. Seventy years ago, Spullenhulp was founded by priest Froidure to help people living on the border of the society and in poverty. Beside free food, free housing and psychological support, Spullenhulp has several shops of second hand goods, open for everyone. In addition Spullenhulp is organizing each year –since 2002- a second hand fashion show with customized apparel. 22 fashion designers, big names and starting designers, ranged side with this noble goal. After the show the customized concepts will be auctioned by the famous auction house Sotheby’s. When we observe people in the tube, we'll see them musing, ambling, dreaming. These acts are illustrating the desorientated and empty character of a tube station. People are waiting to travel to another a place as soon as possible. They are cut off . A tube station is an underground tunnel, a "'not-place'. It is the opposite of a meeting place. |
