NEWSFLASH VOOR GENT: KRAAKPAND 2009

28 februari & 2 maart in Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Gent Onder de noemer ‘Kraakpand’ krijgt jong talent de kans om écht ervaring op te doen in de HA’. Muzikanten, kunstenaars, studenten, scholieren,... kraken het Handelsbeurspand en nemen het heft in eigen handen. in de Handelsbeurs De voorbije jaren stonden in de Handelsbeurs heel wat grote namen op het podium. Ze hebben één ding gemeen: ooit zijn ze klein begonnen. 'Kraakpand' stelt één keer per maand het Handelsbeurs-podium open voor beloftevolle muzikanten. Next in concert in de Mineral Jazz Club Met de Mineral Jazz concerten wil de Handelsbeurs een podium creëren voor een jonge generatie jazzmusici. Voor deze concerten wijkt de Handelsbeurs uit naar de Mineral Jazz Club, in Onderbergen 25 te Gent. Elke eerste dinsdag van de maand wordt één avond avontuurlijke jonge jazz gepresenteerd in een jazz-eigen omgeving: de bar is open, the lights are low, het publiek zit gezellig aan tafels en de jonge jazzcats geven het beste van hun kunnen. Next in concert Het 'Kraakpand'-idee breidt zich ook uit naar de plastische kunsten: in de Handelsbeurs creëren de studenten van het Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten (HISK) plastisch werk dat heel het seizoen permanent aanwezig blijft en te bezichtigen is. In een maandelijks ritme verspreiden de werken van de kunstenaars zich als een goedaardig virus door het gebouw. Ze nodigen het publiek uit het gebouw op een andere manier te lezen en zich te verwonderen over het gewone en het buitengewone. Kunstwerken en artiesten In samenwerking met het Gemeentelijk Instituut voor Technisch Onderwijs (GITO), lopen vijfde- en zesdejaarsleerlingen die de richting 'podiumtechnieken' volgen, stage voor klank- en lichttechniek. Op de Kraakpand concerten in de Handelsbeurs staan ze samen met onze technici écht achter de knoppen.

## Dries and Bob Van Den Berghe... Designers with a great love for wood 
The Ghent furniture stylist Dries and Bob Vanden Berghe were very successful-mainly with their designs in the seventies and eighties-and obtained several rewards. Undoubtedly their "Cirkante tafel" from 1976 is the most known and most appreciated item out of their collection.
Almost 30 years later this table is still produced at Van Den Berghe-Pauvers , and remains the sign board and logo of this company. Within this company both the designers are managers and manufacturers which guarantees the coherence between design and realisation.They inherited the love for furniture from their father Albert, who from the interbellum on chose definitely for modern design. Although the long history of this company and the obtained rewards of Dries and Bob this is the first publication dedicated to both designers.
