| Description |
Ellomennopee (pronounced "LMNOP") is an embodiment of creative expression free from the pressures of commercial success. The focus of Ellomennopee work is on the experience of the audience who view it. The viewer is momentarily drawn into the wondrous world of their imagination as their eyes study each artwork.
The love-child of an affair with art and a marriage to science, Ellomennopee is the creation of a right-brained engineer named Tempest van Schaik. Having an interest in the generally immiscible fields of engineering and art, has even led to her coincidental training as a Renaissance artist, through human dissection! This was one of the joys of studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Having graduated and wanting to specialize, Tempest is now in her 4th year of Electrical Engineering, also at Wits. Her involvement in art and design falls under the creative label Ellomennopee. She experiments with a variety of materials to create tactile designs with an anthropomorphic quality, which are strongly influenced by South African urban culture and contemporary character design. |
